Launching Today

Today sees the launch of this year’s Integrating Infrastructure £10k Challenge where we hope to raise vital funds for The Kier Foundation, so that it can continue to support the fundraising activities of both our employees and our charity partner.

‘Where’s The Bear’ is our most successful charity fundraiser for our business, and this year we hope it will be bigger and better. It is great to see teams from Infrastructure and Utilities get together for a good cause, the ideas and enthusiasm you generate are world class and we are looking forward to seeing what each of our sites taking part in this years’ challenge will come up with.

The previous WTB Challenge in 2014 saw us raise over £32,000 for many different charities across the UK. Many of our site teams chose to support local charities that were close to their own hearts through their fundraising activities. I was so pleased to see this as it enhances our existing relationships and forges new bonds within the communities that we work with on a daily basis and I certainly encourage this again during the 2016 challenge.

At Tempsford we will be starting our fundraiser with a cake sale at 10am on 1st Floor, New East Wing. We will also be running a draw to officially name our mascot panda bear with a ‘name the bear’ competition. Tickets will be available at £2 each with a chance to win a full size replica of our panda bear.

Our previous year’s mascot sits proudly in our trophy cabinet, accompanied with a note telling everyone of his travels. In a world where technology rules, it’s amazing to think that something as simple as a stuffed bear was able to unite so many of us. This year our Panda Bear has picked up the baton and has already been indulging in some heroic adventures. I look forward to similar success this year, and to congratulating our winners. Don’t forget we have some fantastic prizes up for grabs this year too.
